Gisele Bundchen has opened up about her relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio, and why things soured between the former couple.
Bundchen, who dated DiCaprio from 2000-2005, admitted in an interview with Porter magazine that the couple grew apart because, well, he didn’t want to grow, full stop.
Now married to NFL star Tom Brady, the Brazilian also said she was drinking, smoking and indulging in work-aholism to avoid the differences between them.
“No longer numbing myself with smoking, drinking and too much work, I was becoming more and more aware of things that I’d chosen not to look at,” she said.
“Was I alone in wanting to do some serious soul-searching while he stayed the same? In the end, unfortunately, the answer was yes.”
While Bundchen went on to have two children with Patriots quarterback Brady (and became a step-mother to his son, Jack, from a previous relationship), DiCaprio has for the most part avoided a serious relationship, continuing to date mostly models.
The 44-year-old is currently dating 21-year-old model and actress Camila Morrone.
Gisele, 38, also admitted to struggling with occasional panic attacks during her time as a Vicroria’s Secret model, but felt she couldn’t speak publicly about it at the time.
“When I was going through my panic attacks, I didn’t even feel like I could share with anyone,” she said.
“I thought maybe I don’t have the right, everybody is going through so many difficult things in the world, and I don’t have the right to feel this way. So I’d suppress it, and the more I suppressed it, the bigger it became.”
Bundchen and her genetically-blessed children will be cheering from the stands as the New England Patriots taken on the Los Angeles Rams in America’s Super Bowl in Atlanta, Georgia this weekend (AM Monday AEST).
