We guess then it’s not entirely random for a teenage Prince Harry to have posters of Halle Berry on his dorm room wall at boarding school Eton College.
When photos emerged of the Prince’s university life this week, we got a peek into the 18-year-old’s interior decorating skills. Of course, there was the regular pubescent bric-a-brac; what looks to be a lynx deodorant bottle, bikini pin-up posters, a mosaic wall hanging of some description and a large CD player (remember, we were still in the year of the floppy disc). But amongst all of the clutter on the large dresser, you’ll find a single picture of Halle Berry pinned right in the centre of the aforementioned tapestry thing. Yes, before Meghan Markle, there was Halle Berry.
Hilariously, the now 52-year-old actress called the prince out on Twitter. “OK #PrinceHarry, I see you!,” she tweeted before hashtagging “Halle Berry Posta” and tagging in Missy Elliot, a nod to the rapper’s track Work It.
To give this some context, the year was 2003 and just twelve months earlier, Berry had become the first ever African-American woman to win an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Monster’s Ball. The photographer also captured other images of Prince Harry – one including the young Royal polishing his cadet combat boots on his bed. Take special note too of the pictures of Diana around his room. He was just 12 when she was tragically killed.
