Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son Archie Harrison had his christening at Windsor on Saturday, and now the royal couple has shared photos of the day with the public.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex released two images, which they posted on their official Instagram account. The first is a group photo of Harry, Meghan, and Archie with several other royal family members, while the second is a black-and-white image of Meghan holding Archie, with Harry gazing lovingly at his wife and son.

The photographer was Chris Allerton, who also took photos of Harry and Meghan on their wedding day, as well as the iconic photo of baby Archie with his grandparents.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are so happy to share the joy of this day with members of the public who have been incredibly supportive since the birth of their son,” a statement said.

“They thank you for your kindness in welcoming their first born and celebrating this special moment.

“Their Royal Highnesses feel fortunate to have enjoyed this day with family and the godparents of Archie.”

Harry and Meghan have been criticised in the UK for keeping the identities of Archie’s chosen godparents a secret – royals typically make the info public.

Look closely and you’ll notice a tribute to Princess Diana in the group photo. Joining Harry, Meghan, Archie, Doria Ragland, The Cambridges, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles are Harry’s aunts, the late Diana’s sisters Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes.

About 25 people are understood to have attended the closed-door event. Archie’s great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, was surprisingly not among them due to an unfortunately timed diary clash.

Archie Harrison wore a lace and satin christening robe, a replica of the gown worn by royal babies at their christenings since the mid-1800s. The stand-out look of the day, though, was Meghan. The Duchess of Sussex wore a white custom Dior dress, paired with a matching white hat, nude pumps and Cartier diamond studs.
