Over the past few years, Harry Styles has become something of a fashion icon.

His flamboyant style combined with his cheeky, rakish charm has made him a favourite of the likes of Gucci’s Alessandro Michele and Anna Wintour, who chose him to co-host this year’s Met Gala alongside Michele, Lady Gaga, Serena Williams and Wintour herself.

In Styles’ sultry new music video Lights Up he wears a silky blue suit designed by half American-half British designer Harris Reed.

Reed, who has been designing one-off garments for Styles’ stage shows for a couple of years now, revealed in an interview with GQ that Styles’ fabulous outfits are stored in a freezer.

No, really.

GQ interviewer Jonathan Heaf said, “this isn’t the first outfit you’ve made for Harry Styles. Where are all those incredible one-off designs stored? Surely this archive must be preserved somewhere?”

Harris answered, “I can’t say where it is located, but everything goes to an archive. It’s basically like a giant refrigerator – a frozen vault – somewhere in London where I am not going to disclose. But the clothes all have 24 hours surveillance, which you can look at via an iPad, specifically done for his outfits, and they have all been cryogenically frozen in time to preserve them. That’s also what is more surreal for me. After his first solo tour that I produced 14-15 looks for – he wore about six or seven – I was wondering where the others were and he was like, ‘Don’t worry, they are all under surveillance.’ I was like, ‘Oh, that’s chic.'”

WOW. Sounds like some futuristic fashion universe, but if Harris isn’t pulling our leg, this is how couture is being preserved in 2019.

We guess this means Harry’s famous sheer pussy bow blouse and trousers worn at the 2019 Met Gala are locked in this special freezer, alongside his glittering LA Dodgers baseball getup, a harlequin-printed velvet suit, a Gustav Klimt-inspired Alexander McQueen suit and a hot pink Gucci suit.

Also in the interview, Reed revealed how he has been steering Styles away from rigid suits to embrace more flowing styles.

“I felt like what I could offer was more fluid, a flounciness or a different silhouette, billowy sleeves and so on. Even the outfit I did for the Lights Up video was sleeveless and the trousers had a slight flare, so he could dance and do his pelvic thrusting, which he loves to do,” Reed said.

Harry’s style has gotten more and more outré as the star matures, and Reed says we can expect to see plenty more where that came from.

“I think people can expect some pretty crazy, fabulous things coming. I can’t say too much,” he said. “I think with Harry I am hoping this is really just the beginning and as he evolves with his own music, and I evolve as a young designer, I hope we can work on more possible projects and clothes and… things!”

If you thought Harry’s last tour wardrobe was spectacular, we have a feeling his next is going to knock your glittery socks off.
