HBO have today released the first trailer for what promises to be their new flagship comedy series, High Maintenance.

Once a web-series produced by the husband and wife duo of Ben Sinclair and Emmy-award winning casting director Katja Blichfeld (30 Rock), High Maintenance made its debut four years ago on Vimeo as a free-to-stream independent comedy that followed the series’ only recurring character, an unnamed dealer (played by Sinclair), as he traversed the boroughs of New York City catering to and often coming into conflict with his clients and their needs.

Together, the writer-director pair made 19 episodes of High Maintenance over three ‘cycles’, originally offered for free on Vimeo. Two years ago, the video hosting platform commissioned another series of episodes from the duo which became available on a pay-per-view subscription basis. With each season, the production values on what is already an impeccably made show increased; the casting, which has included appearances from Dan Stevens, Yael Stone and comedian John Early, has been both incredibly strong and accurately diverse; and the storylines have ranged from achingly hilarious to extremely poignant.

Six episodes of High Maintenance will air on HBO from September 16 on HBO and (I would imagine) locally on Showcase, eventually.
