While Gigi favours taking her long, California-blonde hair via the bombshell blow-out route, her sister Bella Hadid is known for adding a signature athletic edge to her hair ensembles and her most recent updo effort is true to form. The model was snapped on the streets of New York with her brown (not pink) hair coiled up into a tightly coiled topknot, showing off her CottonOn turtleneck top perfectly. With just the right amount of baby hairs left out to frame her foundation-free face, killer cheekbones and lip-balmed lips, Bella’s look was off-duty beauty done right.

Later that evening after a swift outfit shift into a Baja East turtleneck dress, Bella’s sleek topknot was already on track for a PM upgrade, proving that nothing goes with a chunky knit quite like a topknot. Celebrity hairstylist, Jonathan Colombini agrees, having styled his A-List client Kendall Jenner’s hair into a similar topknot off the back of her own turtleneck dress moment at Yeezy Season 3 show earlier this year.

Colombini says the secret to a perfect topknot it placement. “I don’t really like the look of long hair touching clothes so when we found out that Kendall was going to be wearing a turtleneck sweater dress to Kanye’s show we knew we wanted it up,” he told GRAZIA. “When styling a topknot you really want to get it high on top of the head so I like to use two brushes, a wide-toothed brush and a boar bristle brush, for a smooth finish.”
