Riding the wave of blue eyes, our oceanic fancy has also taken the form of green, with jolts of jade, touches of teal and slicks of turquoise proving most mesmeric when it comes to the eyes.

Let your childhood mermaid fantasies play out and splash around the sea with us, as beauty boss lady Tobi Henney shows us how to create these vividly aquatic eyes.

Go on, dive in, beauty. It’s time to get salty.

SKIN + BASE

1. Fresh, luminous works best with this look. Start by cleansing the skin with Nivea Micellar water, moisturise and prime the skin. Try Becca Backlight Primer, this has been a staple in my kit lately.
2. Use a dewey foundation, I love Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation. This product works beautifully pressed in with a wet Beauty Blender.
3. Conceal under the eyes using Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage. Powder under the eyes using Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder.
4. Contour and Highlight using Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate. The shine on the tops of the cheekbones will look beautiful with the aquatic colour on the eyes.
5. Use the Charlotte Tilbury Powder to de-shine the T-zone.

LIPS + CHEEKS
1. Prep the lips with Mecca Lip Balm.
2. To finish choose a nude lip colour similar to your own lip colour. Try Tom Ford Sable Smoke or MAC Cosmetics Hug Me.
3. Pop a cream blush on the apples of the cheeks, try NARS G-Spot or MAC Keep It Loose.

EYES + BROWS
1. Curl the lashes using the Shu Uemura Lash Curler.
2. Line the inner top and bottom water line with the Marc Jacobs Black Highlander Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner.
3. Next step is to us aquatic tone that suits your eye colour for the wash on the lid. My go-to products are Marc Jacobs Ody (Sea) Highlander Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner, NARS in Khao San Road and Maybelline in Silken Turquoise.
4. Run the liner all of the lid for a bold look or create a winged eyeliner. Run the liner on the lower lash line for an intense aquatic eye look.
5. Coat the lashes with lots of mascara, try the new Dior Show Pump’N’Volume
6. Fill in the brows using IT Cosmetics BrowPower Pencil. Set in place with MAC Cosmetics Brow Gel.

TOBI’S TOP TIPS

TIP #1
Use the Nivea Micellar Water and a cotton pad to remove oil from the eyelid before starting the makeup. This will avoid the product from moving around and creasing.

TIP #2
Increase the longevity of your eye look by layering the products. Try adding a metallic turquoise eyeshadow on top of the liner for it to last all day and night.

TIP #3
Add individual Ardell Lashes to the outer lashes to enhance this look for the night.
