Whether you’re creamy like Romee and Elsa, wanting to go golden like Gigi or still dreaming of Kristen’s brief fling with platinum – the blonde ambition movement shows no signs of ever slowing down. Though for anyone who’s strands have been touched by bleach will know, being blonde calls for year-log commitment, and colour care becomes even more relevant in summer. Read below for our guide to being a better blonde this summer.

Cover up
Wearing a hat won’t just protect your skin, it will be a saving grace for blanched strands in summer too. “Tuck your hair under a big floppy hat or a scarf to protect it from the suns rays,” says hairstylist, Anthony Nader.

Deep Treat
Lightened hair is even more susceptible to the damaging effects of the sun; meaning slotting in regular masks and treatments is even more essential in the hotter months. “I often suggest my blonde clients swap out their regular conditioner for a hydrating mask,” recommends Nader, who says beach days are the best time to give your hair an extended hit of TLC. “Just soak your lengths in a mask, slick it back into a tight bun and leave it in for a few hours.”

Pick purple
Violet-based shampoos and treatments work wonders to neutralize blonde tones and counteract any yellow in your hair – however overuse can have the adverse effect, making your blonde hair dull and flat. Slot them into your routine every other wash to control unwanted golden tones without compromising your blonde’s brightness.
