As London enjoys an unusual bout of Autumnal sunshine, the stately Somerset House plays host to an interactive exhibition by wardrobe heroes, Uniqlo.

Should you find yourself in the British capital (perhaps off the back of Fashion Week or an idyllic European getaway), the three-day exhibit, LifeWear Day, takes a closer look at the mind-blowing innovation and technology behind some of Uniqlo’s most famous styles (like your can’t-live-without cashmere or iconic down).

Inside, an interactive world of wonder awaits. There’s a Great Wall of AIRism, or rather long, soft strips of aqua-hued AIRism fabric to begin your journey through (and make for some excellent Boomerang opportunities). There’s a visually arresting ‘heat room’, which features wall-to-wall projections artistically expressing the brand’s revolutionary Heattech. There’s even an enclave featuring an impressive huddle of sock chandeliers – yes, chandeliers fashioned from Uniqlo’s very comfy, very addictive socks.

You’ll also be privy to the new Autumn Winter collection; artful, kaleidoscopic and suspended from the ceiling in an installation worthy of a little crook neck.

Interactive, tactile and a whole lot of fun, get up close and personal with the pioneers of affordable, premium minimalism. Better yet, it’s free – just the thing to pop into on your stroll home from work.

the Uniqlo lifewear day exhibition runs from 17th – 19th September at somerset house in London.
