A valuable lesson has been learned today, after a video showed what will happen if you get too close to Beyonce.
Beyonce and Jay-Z were courtside at the NBA finals in Oakland, California on Wednesday, where footage showed the power couple sitting next to Nicole Curran, the wife of the Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob. In the video, which has damn-near broken the internet, Nicole is seen leaning right over Beyonce to talk to Jay-Z.
Big mistake. As Nicole leans across Beyonce for a few moments to talk to Jay, the Flawless singer’s expression noticeably sours. Bey throws a seriously shady death stare in Nicole’s direction, then shoves her shoulder into her side.

I’ve watched the video a few times (okay, more than a few). It seems like a frustrated, knee-jerk reaction. Beyonce knew the camera was on her and Jay because they’d waved at it moments earlier. Seems Bey just wanted her personal space and got fed up with Nicole being so close. She is Beyonce, after all.
Sadly for Nicole, things have turned pretty nasty since the video went viral. Some – mainly Beyonce’s fiercely loyal Beyhive – have accused Nicole of flirting with Jay-Z right in front of Beyonce. The abuse has gotten so bad Nicole has deactivated her Instagram account, which was being flooded by the Beyhive’s signature bumble bee emojis.
Hours later Nicole defended herself, telling ESPN writer Ramona Shelbourne that she was only asking the rapper for his drink order and is devastated by the online reaction.
“She says she asked if they wanted drinks,” Shelbourne tweeted.
Curran says Jay Z asked for a vodka soda. She asked if he wanted lime with that. But it was loud in Oracle and she couldn’t hear, so she leaned over. That’s where the photos of Beyoncé looking askance at her come from.

Shelbourne said Curran told her “There was no hostility. I was trying to be a good hostess.”
Lesson learned. Never, under any circumstance, lean over Beyonce. The. End.
