It’s official! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding invitations have been posted! It’s now only a matter of days before ours arrives. Surely…

With a serious diagnosis of wedding fever, we’re more inspired than ever to find the most sensational, best-dressed-list-worthy guest looks. Whether you’re attending a cool-casual soiree or a suited-up affair, when you return the RSVP it’s time to start thinking about your look.

But where to start? And what is appropriate? Begin by thinking about the couple’s inherit style, combined with the location of the wedding (for weather and temperature reasons) and their listed dress code. This will give you a general idea for what will work best. The main thing to remember? DON’T WEAR WHITE.

With inspiration from some of our favourite bygone weddings…and one particular upcoming one…here is our edit of the latest in covetable guest frockery for every style of wedding.

Dress code: Black Tie

Dear guest, HRH Price Henry of Wales and Ms. Meghan Markle would like to invite you to the wedding of the decade. To be held on 19 May 2018 at Kensington Palace, this is Wedding Level: Expert so you need to look the business. It’s time to bring out your most regal look, remember, you’ll need to impress the Queen.

What to wear: For the guys a tux is appropriate, while long dresses or very fancy separates are best for girls. Add jewellery and your best footwear for this one too. (Disclaimer: okay we know the Palace dress code will most likely be White Tie – a step up again from Black Tie – but ball gowns and coat-and-tails are probably a little OTT for us)

Dress code: cocktail

Dear guest, Kate Moss and Jamie Hince are thrilled to invite you to their high society wedding. To take place on 1 July 2011 in the Cotswolds, the affair will be suitably fashionable with distinct rock-meets-English-rose overtones. A dash of vintage elegance is welcome.

What to wear: The cocktail dress code usually suits a stylish, fashiony look (short or long) for girls and a casual suit for guys (with or without a tie).

What to wear: Formal is similar to black tie, but can be a day or night event. Men, tuxedos or very sharp suits are best here and girls bring out your fanciest ensembles (floor length is traditional, but these days mid length is okay too).

What to wear: Similar to cocktail for girls, but guys make sure you have a jacket and tie. This is quite often a day or afternoon event, so light and bright colours are appropriate if you wish.
