Contrary to its fashionable counterparts New York and London, Milan is typically known as a playground of prismatic colour and print. The current Spring Summer 18 shows represent nothing less than such a tenet, with beauty testament.

Fendi is the exemplar, with Sam McKnight’s petrol blue-green bangs a standout. In stellar McKnight fashion, he transformed the model cadre – it girls and all – into a modish army with deeply side-parted ‘dos in teal, turquoise, azure and cerulean. Some were acidic and viridescent in hue, others were gently awash in shades of blue and green, either way, it made for an unmistakably Milanese spectacle.

“Bella in green. Or is it blue? Greenish blue? Blueish green? All the shades of blue and green with a few black tones in the mix at Fendi,” McKnight said on Instagram. Indeed, Bella Hadid, sister Gigi, gal pal Kendall and the latest celebrity spawn to be endowed with ‘it’ entitlement, Kaia Gerber, had either been given a case of the blues, or were seeing green.

For Kaia, who told McKnight backstage “her hair is always the same,” experienced a definite ruffling of feathers (or hair), as mini Cindy received the full Fendi treatment: a cropped, asymmetrical, slanted silvery-blue fringe. A hairy homage to the triangulation and linearity throughout the collection, it was a strikingly different look for the glamorous crew, and one which proved a standout beauty moment not only in Milan, but the broader sartorial-scape.
