It has to be one of the most plum fashion styling jobs in the world right now.
Given Ivanka Trump‘s stratospheric profile, former model status and (lets be honest) unlimited financial resources for clothing and primping (not to mention the refusal of many designers to dress her stepmother Melania), America’s official FDOTUS (First Daughter of the United States) joins the likes of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and Gigi Hadid on the Triple A-list of style influencers.
So for young and essentially unknown Australian ‘celebrity’ stylist Caitlin Williams to have (reportedly) been engaged as Trump’s dresser is no small feat.
What do we know about Williams? She has been settled in New York for several years but harks from Sydney, where she studied at prestigious Sydney girls’ school Abbotsleigh, before finishing a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Sydney, followed by a fashion certificate FBI Fashion College, based in Sydney’s Glebe.
Williams’ first taste of styling happened at now defunct (but then iconic) Cleo magazine, where she was a fashion assistant, before moving into the same role at Australian Harper’s BAZAAR, working alongside now New York-based celeb stylist and Kimye BFF, Christine Centenera, who was Fashion Editor for the magazine at the time. Following a two-year stint in a similar assisting capacity at Australian Vogue, she jumping the pond to NYC, where by coincidence, Centenera is now based for her own work in the famous Conde Nast building.

Trump isn’t the first celebrity that Williams – who is remembered fondly by former Sydney magazine colleagues as hard-working and incredibly talented – has liaised with. Several years working as an assistant to well-known celeb dressed Micaela Erlanger means she’s rubbed shoulders with the likes of Lupita Nyong’o, Gal Gadot, Jared Leto and Winona Ryder.
Whether or not she’ll follow her new star client to Washington remains to be seen, but one thing’s certain: Williams will certainly serve as inspiration for countless young Aussies dreaming of a fashion career on the international stage. We bet the FBI Fashion College enrolment hotline will soon be ringing off the hook.
