Janelle Monae is back with a new single, Pynk, featuring Grimes, an empowering celebration of women and sexuality.

In the accompanying video, Monae and a girl gang celebrate womanhood and all things pink, right down to wearing pants that look like a vagina (the perfect choice to complement your pussy hat, no?)

The singer and her crew appear utterly liberated as they ride down a highway in a convertible and dance in the desert, singing and dancing to feminine, powerful lyrics, such as:

Pink like the inside of your … baby
Pink behind all of the doors, crazy
Pink like the tongue that goes down, maybe
Pink like the paradise found
Pink when you’re blushing inside, baby
Pink is the truth you can’t hide, maybe
Pink like the folds of your brain, crazy
Pink as we all go insane

In the video’s description Janelle says the video is as “a brash celebration of creation. self love. sexuality. and pussy power!

“PYNK is the color that unites us all, for pink is the color found in the deepest and darkest nooks and crannies of humans everywhere … PYNK is where the future is born….”

Add it to the list of recent songs and music celebrating female empowerment – Drake’s Nice For What released last week features a star-studded line up of incredible ladies and is essentially an ode to the independent woman.

The future is female.
