Jennifer Aniston has arrived at the 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles. Mesmerising in her signature black, the 50-year-old appeared a little nervous as she posed for the sea of paparazzi lining the driveway at the Beverly Hilton and simultaneously stroked her Chris McMillan-styled do.

Long known for her roles as rom-com damsels in movies like She’s The One, The Object Of My Affection, Picture Perfect and Along Came Polly, tonight Aniston is nominated for Best Actress In A Drama Series for her role as Alexy Levy, the clever and sharp-shooting anchor woman in Apple TV+’s The Morning Show (or Morning Wars as it’s titled if streamed in Australia). And she’s in with a real chance.

Playing co-anchors to the biggest breakfast television show in America, the seasoned Alex Levy and newcomer Bradley Jackson (played by Reese Witherspoon who is also nominated in the same category) didn’t initially see eye to eye. While both their careers were upended after former co-host Mitch Kessler (Steve Carell) is fired for sexual misconduct, it’s been nine drama-filled episodes of network execs attempting to bamboozle the women to push their personal objectives.

Aniston is rarely nominated for such prestigious awards. It’s likely this scene – where Alex lays down the law before a phalanx of blue suits – earned the actress a nomination. “America loves me. And therefore I own America” says Alex in a crimson coat, reminiscent of a Revolutionary War uniform.

Even if it were Aniston speaking those words herself, she wouldn’t be wrong. Goodluck to her tonight.
