On the promotional trail for their new film Second Act, Jennifer Lopez and Leah Remini opened about the day they met. Formerly introduced by Lopez’s ex-husband, Marc Anthony, Remini admitted in a recent interview to finding it difficult to comprehend that her friend was as perfect in real life as she seemed in the press.

Anthony was apparently super keen on introducing Remini to Lopez at one of his film premieres back in the day. “So we went to the premiere hoping she was gonna be ugly in real life, and then when I was approaching her, I was like, ‘I hope it’s the lighting. Maybe she just looks good in here,’ and as I got closer I was like, ‘Oh damn, there’s a lot of light right here and she looks really pretty,'” Remini said. “I said, ‘Goddammit, why the f*ck why are you so f*cking pretty?’ And she laughed,” she continued.

“I was like, ‘Ugh, I hope she’s dumb,’ ya know? I was like, ‘She could be dumb!’ I wanted to find something and I didn’t.” Jennifer added, “And we fell in love right there…It was one of those instant chemistry things, where you just feel like, ‘I love this person. I love being around this person. This person makes me laugh.’”

Remini is godmother to Lopez’s two twin children Max and Emme, both 10.

Second Act, the story of a 40-year-old woman who lies on her resume in order to score a top role in Manhattan is in Australian cinemas now.
