It’s been a busy year in the collaborative design stakes for talented 33-year-old Northern Irishman, Jonathon (aka JW) Anderson.
As well running his critically lauded namesake fashion label, which showed at London Fashion Week just days ago, and acting as creative director for hi-luxe Spanish leather goods brand Loewe (which, like the JW Anderson brand, is part-owned by LVMH), he’s created a capsule collection for Japanese high street juggernaut Uniqlo.

The 33-strong range for both men and women is filled with the same bold graphics we expect now from Mr Anderson, teamed with the focus on fabrics, functionality and friendly prices at the core of Uniqlo. Prices start at $20 for statement tees, up to $250 for all four trench coat styles. GRAZIA’s favourite unisex padded tote bag costs $50, and this striped cotton top and ruffle skirt combo, just $50 and $80 respectively. The men’s jeans worn below are just $60.

“For me, the point of doing this collaboration was that I believe in democracy in fashion, and what I hope will be achieved is that any age demographic and pick up and find something within the collection to relate to,” says the designer. “Doing something with Uniqlo is very interesting.
“It means you can come up with a wardrobe which is universal and quirky.”

This isn’t Anderson’s first collaborative jaunt. Back in 2013 the two-time British Fashion Council award-winner co-created a capsule for Topshop and served as creative director of Versace’s diffusion brand Versus brand. The JW Anderson for Uniqlo collection launches in Australia on Friday, September 22. Visit here for your nearest store or click here to shop online.
