By now, we know that Kanye’s prone to the odd outrageous outburst.
We also know that he’s a Trump supporter, and that he is bipolar, a condition that he may not continue to be managing with medication.
It can be hard to separate Kanye the artist from Kanye the narcissist, the “real” Kanye, and Kanye when he’s on a manic high.
But he was back to his headline-making tricks over the weekend thanks to two interviews where he shared more of his divisive views.
Promoting his new gospel album Jesus Is King, he appeared on radio host Big Boy’s show on Friday where he announced that Democrats are “brainwashed” and end up supporting policies that are harmful to them.
“Democrats had us voting for Democrats with food stamps for years. What are you talking about guns in the 80s, taking the fathers out the home, Plan B, lowering our votes, making us abort children,” he said.
Asked if he thought he was endorsing racism through supporting Trump, he said, “the most racist thing a person can tell me is that I’m supposed to choose something based on my race.”
In what may or may not have been a veiled swipe at his wife, Kim, West also took aim at Instagram, “Instagram got your b*tch… social media [is] doing more to hurt families and families are the key to health,” he said.
Also on Friday, West revealed to Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 radio show that he had banned everyone working on the new album from pre-marital sex, and his pornography addiction that began when he was a child.
“Playboy was my gateway into full-on pornography addiction. My dad had a Playboy left out at age five, and it’s affected almost every choice I made for the rest of my life from age five to now, having to kick the habit,’ he said.
West also appeared on “Airpool Karaoke” overnight, a special version of Carpool Karaoke with James Corden filmed on Kanye’s private jet, where the choir-as-passengers broke into song regularly, including a rendition of “Jesus Walks.”
Ye also revealed to Corden that God seemed to have reversed his US $35 million debt with a US $68 million tax return.
“God is using me, as a human being. As humbly as I can put it, he’s using me to show off,” Kanye said.
“God is showing off! Yeezy [his brand] is worth $3 billion dollars, number one searched brand in the world, he’s showing off. Kanye West works for God.”
Elsewhere he described marriage as being uncool before he did it. “People thought it would be uncool to be married, and then I got married and people thought, ‘Oh, that looks cool.'”
Marriage years are like dog years, he said, adding that he feels as though he’s been married for 500 years.
Lest Kimmy be upset, he added that being married to her is “more than cool”.
“It’s more than cool as hell or something, It’s heavenly, it’s great, it’s magnificent,” he said.
Family time is pretty quiet for Ye these days.
“We eat dinner and we play with the kids and we’ll put the kids to bed and then we’ll go to bed and my wife watches Dateline and I read the bible.”
He also added that they plan to have seven children. Assuming they will continue to use surrogates, we just hope the new arrivals don’t clash with Kimmy’s fashion commitments.
