Kanye West and John Legend’s friendship was tested this week when Kanye tweeted screenshots of their texts disagreeing over the rapper’s pro-Trump views.
But the long-time friends were able to make up – or at least leave their beef at the door – as they celebrated at Chrissy Teigen’s baby shower overnight.
The celebration for John and Chrissy’s impending second child was hosted by Kim Kardashian, and the two couples seemed to have a good time despite the drama.
Kim shared footage of Kanye and John dancing together to Kanye’s new song Ye vs. the People, and Yeezy tweeted a video of John performing All Of Me on the piano.
Kanye also tweeted a selfie with Legend, captioning it “We got love. Agree to disagree.”

West and Legend have been friends and collaborators for more than a decade, so it’s good to see their political views haven’t destroyed their relationship.
A day earlier, Legend texted Kanye in concern after the rapper shared pro-Trump views.
You’re way too influential to endorse who he is and what he stands for,” Legend wrote. “As you know, what you say really means something to your fans. They are loyal to you and respect your opinion. So many people who love you feel so betrayed right now because they know the harm that Trump’s policies cause, especially to people of colour. Don’t let this be part of your legacy. You’re the greatest artist of your generation.”
West was having none of it and accused his friend of trying to manipulate him.
“I love you John and I appreciate your thoughts. You bringing up my fans or my legacy is a tactic based on fear used to manipulate my free thought.”
Legend, who at this point had cottoned onto West publishing their personal texts replied. “Think freely. Think with empathy and context too. Your words and actions have consequences. Much love,” he wrote.
“And since you’re posting texts, let me add that I have a new single out haha,” he added.
