While Katy Perry is no stranger to playing hair colour chameleon, most of her shade shifts are due to trompe-l’œil wigs and temporary hairpieces. Her latest hair shift however sits more on the permanent scale – the singer has taken her formerly dark brown hair, bright bleach blonde. Attending an art exhibition in Palm Springs to celebrate the unveiling of her friend, and artist, Sham Ibrahim’s portrait of Donald Trump, the ‘California Girl’ revealed a new lighter, brighter and blonder ‘do. Might Perry’s sudden appreciation for peroxide be a sign of solidarity to her also recently blonded beau, Orlando Bloom.

Despite each starting their careers on the dark side of the hair spectrum, Bloom went blonde late last year before his on-again girlfriend Perry followed suit. Couples starting to look alike is nothing new – who could forget Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Pitt’s matching hiney crops during their brief coupling, or Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake’s denim duo moment during their reign? Here’s hoping our favourite new A-list relationship doesn’t go down the same failed path, and that in fact the couple that bleaches together, stays together.
