For obvious reasons, boots have always fallen in the ‘winter’ category of seasonal dressing. Of course, the thought of a cold, blistering winter without your feet strapped in a pair of booties is unfathomable – ghastly, in fact. But in recent times, the boot has proven more than just a means to keep your feet warm in Winter. It now stands as one of the most trans-seasonal pieces in fashion, as powerful in Spring and Summer as it is in the cooler months. Case in point: Kendall Jenner leaving New York Fashion Week – at the tail end of Summer – in a pair of Jacquemus’ black Les Bottes Pantalon with a sheer micro mini shirt dress of the same colour.

Then, in Los Angeles today, fellow model and gal pal Hailey Bieber wore the same near-knee-high boot in white with an oversized t-shirt and long-line leather jacket (and apparently no pants). Two sunny locales, two very stylish instances of the boot.

The boots in question are from Jacquemus’ current Autumn Winter 19 collection; pointed at the toe and folded over at the leg with contrast stitch (picture a thigh-high boot doubled), they are intended to mock the look of a pant with a faux trouser effect and of course feature his signature geometric heel.

Despite their wintery inclination, Jenner and Bieber’s springtime debut of Les Bottes Pantalon prove the unyielding prowess of a boot – irreverent of season. And as season-less fashion gathers pace, there isn’t a better time to invest in a pair of statement boots – even if the mercury is rising Down Under.
