Kendall Jenner, you’re not alone.
The step-mother of rapper A$AP Rocky (real name Rakim) has told The Daily Mail she doesn’t approve of model girlfriend Kendall Jenner. “Everything I hear about the Kardashians makes me think they are a bad family for Rakim to be involved with,” she said. “They are just not the kind of people I’d like to see him hanging around with. I don’t want him dragged into that circus. He is too good for that and can do so much better.”
While we usually would associate celebrities with success and instant parental approval, it turns out Jenner is just one of many celebs with either parents who didn’t like their partner or partner’s parents who didn’t like them. Take a look:
Riley Keough
When Keough broke off her engagement to Alex Pettyfer amid cheating rumours, her mum, Lisa Marie Presley, allegedly held her tongue from saying, “I told you so” reported Radar Online.
Lisa Marie Presley
Like mother-like daughter. When Presley married Michael Jackson, her mum, Priscilla was not impressed. “Lisa knew I wasn’t happy about her marrying Michael Jackson,” she told The Guardian. “We had issues over it because of my experience of marrying somebody with that same iconic status and in a strange way, maybe history was repeating itself. Maybe she saw something of Elvis in Michael.”
Kim Kardashian
Bruce wasn’t keen on Kanye. “I’m not that excited, but we’ll see,” he said. “Kimberley and I have had a conversation about them and their potential relationship.”
Angelina Jolie
It was widely known Brad Pitt’s mum loved his first wife Jennifer Aniston. So when Jolie, the tattooed bombshell with a self-confessed drug-taking past, lured Pitt, Jane Pitt was reportedly not impressed by Jolie’s drug admissions.
Rihanna
Despite how their relationship ended up, Chris Brown’s father told a publication he personally didn’t want Brown and Rihanna to make amends. It was his reasoning though that raised eyebrows. “He needs someone who is grounded and logical.”
