In further evidence that Kim and Kanye are reaching the upper echelons of cultural influence, the couple presented an award at the Wall Street Journal Innovator Awards on Wednesday night in NYC.

Honouring their friend, fashion designer Ricardo Tisci with the Fashion Innovator Award, they gave a joint speech at the ceremony at the newly reopened Museum of Modern Art in New York.

‘I am so excited to be here for someone who has believed in me before I really knew what fashion was and before I believed in myself,’ Kim said as she introduced Tisci.

Putting his support behind the Burberry Chief Creative Officer, Kanye said, “He’d come to my fashion shows when everyone would dis my fashion shows and just be an amazing friend. I remember Carine [Roitfeld] and Ricardo locking arms and saying no one’s going to talk bad about Kim and we’re going to dress her,” West said, adding that some of those people that weren’t so nice were in the room.

Kim wore an interesting outfit comprising a structured denim off the shoulder longsleeved top and bottoms that were part jeans, part blue leather chaps. Kanye wore a suit and black t-shirt with a thick gold chain.

The couple were more affectionate than we’ve seen them in a while on the red carpet, cuddling and kissing.

They stole a fair bit of limelight on the red carpet that was also graced by other attending celebs including Gigi Hadid, Bette Midler, Julianne Hough, Jerry Seinfeld, Tory Burch, Irina Shayk, and Karlie Kloss and new husband Joshua Kushner.

Mum Kris Jenner also attended with her handsome boyfriend Corey Gamble, 38 (he’s Kim’s age!) Kris has been with Corey, a tour manager, for five year.  They actually met at Riccardo Tisci’s 40th birthday party in Ibiza not long after Kris has split form Caitlyn (formerly Bruce) Jenner.

Other honorees at the Innovator Awards included Julianne Moore, actor and comedian Eddie Murphy, artist Cindy Sherman, rapper Tyler, The Creator, and architects Karl Fournier and Olivier Marty of Studio KO.

Apparently Kim, who is studying law, made a beeline for the night’s most popular honoree as soon as there was a break in the ceremony.

She was desperate to chat with social justice activist Bryan Stevenson. The founder and executive director of the Alabama-based Equal Justice Initiative received two standing ovations when he was called to the stage to collect the Social Justice innovator award.
