The tensions between former co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall have reached a dramatic new level, after Cattrall publicly slammed SJP on Instagram overnight.

In a post directed at her former Sex And The City co-star, Cattrall bluntly rejected the condolence message Parker left on her Instagram post about her brother’s death this week.

After Kim announced that her Christopher Cattrall had passed away (he was found dead at his home in Canada, police said the death was not suspicious) SJP commented on the post “Dearest Kim, my love and condolences to you and yours and Godspeed to your beloved brother”.

In response, Kim shared a screenshot of a typed note that said “I don’t your love and support at this tragic time @sarahjessicaparker”, and added in the caption:

“My Mom asked me today ‘When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?’ Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now. Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend.

“So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona.”

She added a link to a New York Post article from October 2017, “Inside the mean-girls culture that destroyed Sex and the City”, which detailed the rivalry between Parker and Cattrall that allegedly grew out of Parker’s jealousy of Cattrall as a scene-stealer, when Parker’s character Carrie was meant to be the star of the show.

SJP is yet to respond to Cattrall’s note.

The feud between the former co-stars has been playing out in public for months, since it was reported Kim did not want to do another SATC movie or a small-screen reboot.

Last week Parker appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, and described being gutted upon hearing Cattrall’s comment last year that they were “never friends”.

“[I was] just…heartbroken,” Parker told Cohen.

“I mean that whole week, you and I spoke about it because I was just … I don’t know I found it really upsetting because that’s, you know, that’s not the way I recall our experience.”

Soon after Cattrall confirmed she would never make another SATC movie or reboot the show, she told British TV host Piers Morgan of SJP, “We’ve never been friends. We’ve been colleagues and in some ways it’s a very healthy place to be.

“I really think she could have been nicer. I don’t know what her issue is.”
