After welcoming their third child this week, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have revealed the name they chose for their baby girl:

Chicago.

Kim updated the world on the much anticipated Kardashian-West offspring’s name on her website, also revealing the official date of birth and weight of the baby, who was born via a surrogate.

January 15, 12.47AM, 7 pounds, six ounces.

In a tweet posted soon after, she confirmed the little girl would be referred to mostly as ‘Chi’, likely pronounced ‘shy’ since the colloquial name for the US city is ‘Chi-town’, pronounced ‘shy’.

Kanye grew up in Chicago and has rapped about the city in much of his music, so the choice seems to be a nod to his roots.

The internet is divided over the choice, with some praising the unique name, while others just don’t think it works.

“Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl,” a statement published soon after the birth read.

“We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give, and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care.

“North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister.”

In September Kim confirmed reports the couple were using a surrogate to have a third child – in a trailer for Keeping Up With The Kardashians season 14, of course.

Kim has a condition called placenta accreta, which would make an attempt to carry a baby to term dangerous.
