Of all the parts she’s played, Kristen Stewart’s starring role in the Rolling Stones’ new music video might be her coolest yet.

The actress gets to live the fantasy of speeding through empty city streets in a fast car, completely carefree in the clip for Ride ‘Em on Down, a track on the iconic rock band’s new album of covers (it was originally performed by Eddie Taylor in 1955).

Reminiscent of James Dean in a white T-shirt, washed-out denim and with cropped, slicked-back hair, Stewart puts pedal to the metal as she roars through a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles in a blue Mustang, rocking out to the song, sucking on a lollipop and even doing some burnouts after encountering a zebra.

She also has an impressive solo dance session at a gas station (living dangerously with a lit cigarette in her mouth despite the potential to be blown to smithereens – don’t try this one at home, kids).

“It didn’t take much more than a few words to get me amped on the idea,” Stewart said in a statement. “The Stones. A ’65 Mustang. Alone in Los Angeles. And the shoot was just as dreamy as the idea. We tore LA apart in a day and we had one hell of a soundtrack.”

Ride ‘Em on Down is on the Rolling Stones’ new all-cover album, Blue & Lonesome, released Friday – their first release in more than a decade.
