After Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon signed on, and Meryl Streep was revealed to be joining the cast, there’s more good news for Big Little Lies season 2.

HBO announced overnight that Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley and Zoe Kravitz will all reprise their roles in the hit show – not a surprise, but a relief nonetheless.

Giving fans some idea of what they expect from the show’s second season, HBO explained that Jane will be “processing Perry’s sudden death” and “trying to build a new life for herself and Ziggy”.

Meanwhile, Renata is “now faced with new challenges in her marriage”; while Bonnie is struggling with Perry’s death and “forced to face demons in her past.”

Witherspoon’s Madeline Martha Mackenzie confronts the truth of Perry’s death and must come to terms with her own marriage and traditional notions of marriage.

Streep has been confirmed to play Mary Louise Wright – mother of Perry – who is in Monterey to check-up on her grandchildren and Celeste.

But just like most of the plotlines in this mother’s group, no script will come without drama. It was Kidman who confirmed the rumour on her Instagram.

“Welcome to the #BigLittleLies family Miss Streep – can’t wait xx” she posted.

Production for Big Little Lies season 2 is expect to begin this Autumn.
