For years now, model scouters have retreated from walking around the mall (isn’t that where all models are “discovered”?) to trawling through Instagram to find new signings. And it appears – according to Lindsay Lohan anyway – that the medium can also be used as an audition platform to secure (or at least be considered) for a film casting.

Following Beauty And The Beast’s Live Action film set for release in Australian cinemas on March 16, the re-make of Disney’s The Little Mermaid is also coming. Lohan posted a side-by-side comparison shot of herself next to Ariel with the caption “I will sing again, as #ariel #thelittlemermaid, @disney approve that “#billcondon directs it along with my sister @alianamusic singing the theme song for the soundtrack. Also @kgrahamsfb plays Ursula,” she said referring to a trainer and CrossFit enthusiast. “Simply because, she is the best. Take one. @disneystudios.”

Speaking to Bill Condon late last year, the Academy Award winning director told us the reason he arrived at Emma Watson as Belle in Beauty And The Beast was became Watson really did resemble the intellect and beauty of the Disney heroine. “Twenty-five years later and who best captures those specific qualities of Belle – her brains, how strong she is, how independent she is, how misunderstood she is – it just felt like Emma Watson, in both her performances and how she lives her life, it felt like a great 21st century version of that,” Condon told GRAZIA.  “And then, on top of that, to hear how much she loved Beauty And The Beast and that she could sing and dance, well, that’s it, right?” While Condon won’t be directing The Little Mermaid, Broadway’s Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda is in “super-early” talks to take part in the film.

But could Lohan, who dabbled in a singing career, measure up to the grace of a Disney princess? We’ll leave that question with you only to say that she definitely won’t if she keeps her weird new foreign accent. Also, Jon Favreau announced only on the weekend that he and Disney studios are teaming up for The Lion King’s live-action reboot in which he’s directing. Lindsay, while some roles have been filled (Donald Glover will play Simba previously voiced in 1994 by Matthew Broderick and Jonathon Taylor Thomas and James Earl Jones will reprise his ole as Mufasa) we hear the role Zazu is open?
