Stefano Gabbana of Dolce & Gabbana has called Selena Gomez “ugly”.

The Italian fashion designer made the comment on a photo of Selena posted on Instagram by The Catwalk Italia, writing “she’s so ugly!”

In screengrabs of the comment, the account is indeed the one used by Stefano.

It’s not clear why Gabbana (below left) felt the need to make such a cruel and petty comment, but Selena’s fans and friends have her back.

Gomez’s friend, fellow singer Julia Michaels tweeted “@selenagomez just here to tell you that you are one of the most beautiful women I know, inside and out. I love you always.”

Tommy Dorfman of 13 Reasons Why wrote “@stefanobabbana you’re tired and over. your homophobic, misogynistic, body-shaming existence will not thrive in 2018. it is no longer tolerable or chic. please take many seats.”

It’s not the first time Gabbana has left a mean comment about a celebrity online. In April, he posted several thumbs down emojis on a photo of Victoria Beckham.

Dolce & Gabbana is known for courting controversy – several big stars boycotted the brand over comments the designers made about IVF and LGTBQ families. But Selena Gomez is one of the most influential women in the world, so they might pay for this latest incident.
