His collaboration with cult street brand Supreme was one of the biggest fashion moments of 2017 (not to mention a smash commercial success) but Louis Vuitton’s artistic director of menswear Kim Jones has today called time on his tenure with the luxury brand.

Jones will show his final menswear collection for the French fashion house, his work home for the past six years following a stint at Alfred Dunhill and launching his namesake label, tomorrow at Men’s Fashion Week.

Given the critical acclaim surrounding the 44-year-old Central Saint Martin’s Graduate – his first collection was famously bought in fully by John Galliano and he’s got two British Fashion Awards to his name – it’s likely Jones’ next career step is already neatly lined up.

Insiders predict he will soon be announced Christopher Bailey’s replacement at Burberry, arguably the most coveted job in fashion right now. Bailey was now relieved of the role after almost 18 years and winning almost every fashion award possible in that time.

No doubt, Jones – who regularly looks to art and the cultural zeitgeist for design inspiration and has 263,000+ followers on his personal Instagram – would bring a fresh perspective and cool factor (which Burberry has lacked for some time) should he step into the role. And while his women’s ready-to-wear experience might appear lacking on paper, he’s worked as a contributing womenswear stylist for cult magazine brands POP and V in the past.

GRAZIA will keep you updated on breaking developments (including news of his replacement at Louis Vuitton). We wait with baited breath.
