There are few things in the fickle world of fashion in 2016 that happen to be completely assured: when #Kengi are spotted wearing something more than three times it’s an instant trend, fashion bloggers love avocado toast and there’s always the one It bag that everyone just has to have. Most It bags are attached to a luxury fashion house  Proenza Schouler’s PS1, the Gucci Dionysus or Celine’s Mini Luggage bag come to mind. Which is why the cult status of Mansur Gavriel’s bucket bag is an impressive feat.

Unless you are an avid fashion follower you may not even have heard of the relatively fledgling label founded in 2012 by Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel, who felt they couldn’t find a beautiful classic bag priced below the designer price point, so decided to create a range themselves. What followed were hallmarks around simple, functional, leather bags in three silhouettes – a tote, a pouch, and a bucket style, the latter quickly becoming the sell-out piece (logical due to its buttery leather, roomy practicality and wow-coloured lining).
