She’s just been nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in Bombshell, but if there was an award for red carpet dressing, then Margot Robbie would most certainly win it for this magical Giambattista Valli gown.
Attending a special screening of the film alongside her statuesque co-stars Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron, Robbie was a vision in ethereal Giambattista Valli couture. In a powdery lilac, pleated gauzy chiffon fell with both romance and drama in a spectacular two-tier dress which fanned out like foliage at the bust. The first part gathered around the thigh in an elaborate bubble hem, while swathes of frothy lavender continued down in a mermaid-like train.
But perhaps most striking was the unexpected flush of orange, present in a belted corsage and her beauty look. The delicate waistband bloomed with a flower of the same lilac fabric bar its centre, which was hued in a bright peach. Her makeup too was anchored in orange tones, including a peachy lip and soft dusting of coral across lids.
A refreshingly feminine take on red carpet dressing (particularly in contrast to Kidman and Theron who both wore black), Margot Robbie’s dash of haute whimsy affirms how fabulous – and fantastical – fashion can truly be.
