Mariah Carey has unleashed a fiery attack on the producers of US television network ABC’s Times Square New Year’s Eve show, blaming them for her laughable performance seen by millions around the world – and continuing to clock up millions of YouTube views since.

Mariah took to the stage just before midnight to perform several of her hit songs, including Emotions but she barely sang a note, talking over the music and complaining she couldn’t hear. She moved awkwardly around the stage, barely dancing and telling the audience “Well, Happy New Year. We can’t hear, but I’ll just go through the motions,” adding later “I’m trying to be a good sport here.”

Now the diva and her team have laid the blame for the train wreck performance squarely with the production team behind the show, claiming the performance was “sabotaged” and that they “set her up to fail”.

Sources close to Carey tell TMZ “they repeatedly complained to execs at Dick Clark Productions that her ‘inner ears’ – aka earpieces – were NOT working.”

The insider also claimed that during an interview with host Ryan Seacrest earlier in the broadcast, Carey had issues hearing over the noise from the 2.5 million strong crowd, and that Mariah was assured she would be on “a different frequency when she hit the stage and there would be no problem.”

The report from TMZ also reveals:

“To make matters worse and even more suspicious, Mariah’s people say when she got on stage the prompter wasn’t working. The prompter has the lyrics when they appear in the song as well as stage cues. Mariah ripped the inner earpiece out – out of frustration – and thought she had a fighting chance just listening to the music, but the crowd was so loud in Times Square she could hear nothing.”

This is sabotage.”

Dick Clark Productions have flatly denied the accusations, arguing that the claim they “would ever intentionally compromise the success of any artist is defamatory, outrageous and frankly absurd.”

The statement also insists DCP had no involvement in the difficulties associated with Mariah’s performance.

Meanwhile another source close to Mariah didn’t hold back with their frustration over the situation.

“We could be in Aspen right now having the best time instead of being in dog sh*t Times Square that smelled like a f***ing sewer.'”

Shortly after the performance, in the early hours of New Year’s Day, Mariah had a measured response to the debacle, tweeting “Sh*t happens! Have a happy and healthy new year everybody! Here’s to making more headlines in 2017.”

We are happy to report that the queen of the holiday season has since escaped from “dog sh*t Times Square” and is ‘festivating’ in her beloved Aspen.
