NEW YORK CITY: Directly after the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Thursday night, German model Lorena Rae will be making a beeline for the Nutella jar. It’s an endearing answer that makes us warm to her even before she tells us she’s put plans in place for a follow-up dinner of burgers and pizza. Bursting onto the social scene on the arm of Leonardo DiCaprio (the pair were spotted having lunch on Park Avenue and riding CitiBikes together in New York last year), the model proved she’s more than just tabloid fodder booking a spot on the most coveted runway in the world; Victoria’s Secret. Rae auditioned for the lingerie giant last year and to the surprise of GRAZIA missed out on a place. On Thursday night, she’ll join headliners Adriana Lima, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Elsa Hosk and Kendall Jenner at Pier 94 on the Upper West Side. Be sure to cast your eye to the side and don’t miss these honey locks for she will be the next big thing.
Tell me about your Victoria’s Secret casting this year? And how did it compare to your very first VS casting?
“Going to last year’s casting and getting a rejection the first time really helped me this year to be more confident. Knowing the casting team, that you are going to see, makes it a lot easier to be excited instead of scared.”
Who was the first person you called when you got cast in this year’s show?
“I immediately called my mum even though it was hard to type in her number while I was crying like a baby.”
What’s the first thing you will do after the show? Will you beeline for a burger joint?
“Right after the show I can`t wait to see all the girls and celebrate the hard work we have put in the last couple of weeks. For the day after I’ve already made sure to get a huge breakfast including Nutella toast and chocolate croissants.
“For dinner I am shooting for pizza or a burger. I can`t promise it won’t be both!”
What does your daily diet look like?
“I wouldn’t call it a diet. I call it a healthy lifestyle. From chicken and veggies to cheat days, I cover the full range, but I always make sure to keep the balance. We all need sweets.”
Beauty-wise, what does your nightly routine look like to ensure you get adequate sleep and your skin is in tip-top condition?
“Before going to bed, I love to drink hot water with fresh lemon. I also do that in the morning. I also always make sure to remove my makeup.”
Who will be coming to watch you walk in the show?
“My sister and my best friend flew in from Germany to support me walk the runway and enjoy the cheat day!”
What is something GRAZIA readers wouldn’t know about the Victoria’s Secret show?
“The amount of people it takes in the process to help make this show as beautiful as it is.”
When you do visit home, how do old friends greet you when you’re out given the level of your success overseas?
“I haven’t noticed a difference at all. Whenever I come home, I am happy to catch up with my girls and hear about their successes while we sit on the couch and gossip about old times. I couldn’t ask for a more supportive squad.”
How would your close friends describe you?
“Quoting my friends, they say I’m down to earth, always up for new things, I put family first and I’m very disciplined.”
Where is your favourite spot in New York for a healthy lunch?
“I love the restaurant abcV. It`s a vegan spot, even though I am not vegan, they have the best healthy pancakes for breakfast.”
