Every Christmas, it is tradition for Royal family – most notably the male members of the family – to participate in the annual pheasant shoot. But it appears Meghan Markle has some sway over her husband Prince Harry, the latter pulling out of the event reportedly due to his wife’s fondness of animals.

According to The Sunday Mirror, this has widened the rift between Prince Harry and his brother Prince William as the younger Royal sides with Markel again. “William sees this as another concerning example of his brother being pulled away from his family by his new wife,” an insider said. “Harry’s always loved hunting and it has provided them with a great chance to bond as brothers.”

“He hardly ever misses the shoot but he loves her so much,” another source said.

Pheasant shooting is a popular sport in the UK but is also practiced in other parts of the world like Middle America. In the States, most of the birds bagged are wild-born feral pheasants. In the U.K., they are largely regarded as pests who are a hazard to drivers and a detriment to wildlife.
