The Met Ball Gala Is Happening Right Now And Where Do We Even Start…
'Notes On Camp' has sent the A-List into an exploding fashion firework. This is the red carpet of red carpets...
It’s the event that used to be known as “a little bit more avant-garde than the Oscars” but is now more like THE ONLY FASHION EVENT IN THE WORLD. Held, as tradition, at The Met in New York City, the theme this year for the Met Ball Gala is Notes On Camp. And oh boy have the celebs have gone completely berzerk for it. There mustn’t be a stylist or designer left in the whole of the United States that isn’t currently covered in glittered, panting with exhaustion still clutching a hot glue gun.
But seriously, this event is the business. The absolute fashion BOSS of red carpets. It’s one that features couture of supreme proportions but pleasingly doesn’t take itself too seriously. To top it off the honcho and creator of the event, Vogue US editor in chief Anna Wintour took her place upon a regal mezzanine to watch the red carpet unfold. Flanked by her swarms of Andies and Emilys and Stanleys. It made it all look a little Colosseum fight-to-the-death, which, let’s be honest, it kind of is.
Anyway, the event is now well underway and here is just a snapshot of the glory that has been the Notes On Camp red carpet so far. There’s so much to unpack, it makes you just want to leave the suitcase spilling on the floor and have a lie down.
But let’s see, there’s Harry Styles with the Gucci silk shirting and the pearl earring. There’s Katy Perry dressed as a Moschino candelabra. Cardi B challenging Rihanna’s mega-train. There’s Gigi in an Icarus-infused Michael Kors catsuit. Bella in a Jeremy Scott piece of magnificence that only she could pull off. Then, of course, Lady Gaga in no less than four out-of-this-world outfit changes that makes us say “Ally who?”.
We’re also gunning for some rebel celebs to take bathroom selfies once again (even though it’s banned by Ms. Wintour). All the gold, all the feathers, all the insane architectural couture AND celebs-behaving-badly? What more could you ever want?
