1.Cold Little Heart
“The length is a really long song, it’s ten minutes. I didn’t intend for the song to be that long. The way the song was done and created was really quite free and there were no boundaries. The reason why it became that long was because we kept trying to find the chorus of the song and I just kept adding to it. It got towards the end of creating it and it sounded so much like the album opener and it would take so long for the vocal to come in and the guitar part and a slow build and I felt like this would be an awesome way to start an album. And it would make a statement. It was clear to the listening that this album was going to be a different journey this time round. I wanted to entice people in and do something that might stand out.”

4.Place I Belong
“This is the first song I wrote on the piano. I’m a huge Marvin Gaye fan, I’m pretty inspired by him and his music. I recorded this in England actually. It’s probably one of my favourites, it’s a 70’s soul sound.”
5.Love & Hate
“This is the album title so it’s my favourite on the record. As I was writing it, I wanted to do something epic, really huge and cinematic. I wanted to write something that could be really emotional and heartbreaking. That kind of music always seems to make me happy, I don’t know why but it’s something melancholy about it and beautiful; those kind of melodies make me sad. They make me feel kind of good for some reason and I was looking for that feeling. I wanted the lyrics to be grand, you know, I love that song.”
6.One More Night
“It’s a song about getting through. You’ve gotta keep going, you know. You can get stuck in ruts or go through tough periods in life and we all go through them, its part of being human. So this song is about ‘just one more night’, you can get through this’ and in the morning it will be alright. The morning is always my favourite time of day. Sometimes in the studio, you’re like, stuck and you cant get it done. You go to bed and when you wake up, you feel like you’ve got a fresh perspective. You start again. There’s something about the morning that makes me feel like I can tackle a lot and I wanted to write songs that would encourage me to keep going.”
7.I’ll Never Love

8.Rule The World
“It’s about getting over your own inhibitions. Sometimes you know the feeling of you want to do something but there’s a voice that says ‘no, you can’t do it’ whether it be writing a song or asking someone out on a date. It’s hard so you stop yourself and you kind of give up. The mind can sometimes play tricks on you so Rule The World is about getting rid of all that. And once you do that, you can really start living, you know. Sometimes the mind’s a bit tapping so it’s about taking your mind away from that and be free.”
9.Father’s Child
“This song is a bit abstract but if I think about it, it’s about having faith. How do you know the choices you make are the way you want to go in life? Sometimes if you go too far down the track, you’re unable to get back on track. And I was thinking about all those things when I was writing that song.”
