Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown has responded to criticism of a beauty tutorial she shared on YouTube, which revealed her night-time skincare routine.

The video, made to promote her new skincare line Florence by Mills, has struck a lot of viewers as odd, because, well … it seems she’s only pretending to use the products.

Some people have argued the bottles of product look as though they’re empty, and that her face appears to stay dry even though she says she’s applying cleanser and moisturiser. The hair around Brown’s face stays perfectly dry even though she claims to be ducking off-camera to wash off the products.

Check it out for yourself.

Well, apparently it was one big misunderstanding. After a few days of critical comments online, the 15-year-old British actress responded to Instagram.

“I’m still learning the best way to share my routines as I get to know this space better — I’m not an expert,” she wrote in a note.

“I thought doing a quick video replicating my personal process for that night was okay, but that’s not what was conveyed,” she continued.

“I understand, I appreciate all of your feedback on this journey, please keep sharing your thoughts and I will too.”

It’s worth remembering Millie is an actress, not a YouTube star or beauty influencer. Also, she’s human – and just 15 years old – so let’s be gentle with her, yes? After all, Stranger Things have happened (couldn’t resist).
