Miranda Kerr is obviously in a happy place. I draw this conclusion based on the multiple and very open interviews she has given recently about her past relationship with actor Orlando Bloom and current engagement to SnapChat founder Evan Spiegel. She’s happy to speak about the past and ecstatic to talk about the future. She’s in a secure place.

Speaking to Elle Canada, the supermodel talked for the first time about how hard it was breaking up with her first husband and father to her five-year-old son. “When Orlando and I separated [in 2013], I actually fell into a bad depression. I never understood the depth of that feeling or the reality of that because I was naturally a very happy person,” she said. The 33-year-old said she began meditating twice a day, using aromatherapy oil, doing yoga and eating really well in order to give her body and mind the best possible chance at getting through the sad feelings. “And also, when I wake up and when I go to bed, I have that attitude of gratitude and I say, ‘Thank you for this beautiful day, for this roof over my head, and for the fact that I have my health and my son has his health, and thank you for our family’.”

According to Kerr, “every thought you have affects your reality, and only you have control of your mind.” “What I have found is that everything you need, all of the answers are deep inside of you. Sit with yourself, take a few breaths and get close to your spirit.”

Sound advice.
