It was never going to be low key classic Cruise offering given all the ingredients: brilliantly eccentric designer Jeremy Scott, his megastar BFFs, the Los Angeles setting and carte blanche from brand bosses to do carry on his crazy cartoon-like creative tangent.

But what no-one counted on was that the models in Moschino’s combined Resort 2017 and Menswear Spring 2017 show would be what everyone buzzed about most afterwards – no small feat given the trippy psychedelic theme that saw grown men wearing neon lace suits and barely there speedos, women in crochet knitted flare and acid-era platforms, and kitschy cartoon animal motifs so blindingly bright they should come with a health warning.

LA-based Scott’s clearly a man not worried of being upstaged, so long as the show’s being talked about (mission accomplished). In multiple strokes of genius model casting, he achieved the almost impossible in shifting the attention away from the megastar FROW (Hello? His bestie Katy Perry next to Caitlyn Jenner in a smoking lips Moschino mini – click!) back to the runway – or more specifically, the people on it.

Trivia: members of the public could buy a ticket to the show for $55-$400. No surprise that they sold out almost instantly.

“I just wanted to make something fun,” Scott is quoted as having said backstage beforehand. “Something a little theatrical, something colourful and upbeat and bright, that my SoulCycle instructor, and neighbours, and the pop stars who I adore, who are also my neighbours, could come and see together.”

Here’s 5 reasons we’d like to thank Jez Scott for letting his models steal the limelight…

1. Anwar Hadid made his official runway debut

2. So did Presley Gerber – while his whole super-fam watched on

Presley backstage with dad Rande and mom Cindy, sorry – no – that’s his sister Kaia. (Soz, hard to tell these days.) Cindy was there too, probably taking this pic.

4. Miranda Kerr surprised everyone by getting opening honours

5. Jordan Barrett. Enough said
