Brooklyn, NY: Winnie Harlow winds down the Uber car door window a mere few inches and extends her delicate hand. “Hi, I’m Winnie,” she says, her sunglasses dipped. “Nice to meet you.” This was on Saturday. Spending a full day with her on set – and in Brooklyn where she currently calls an apartment home – the 24-year-old Canadian model would switch between a girl talking about her fridge breaking down to an actual supermodel in front of the lens.
A few days later Harlow would host the red carpet arrivals at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards. Over a venty iced vanilla soy chai latte – no sugar, half ice – I asked her how she was feeling about it and how she was preparing. “I’m so excited but I…” she pauses, smiling. “I’m just going to maybe have some tequila beforehand so I’m relaxed.”
We’re down for this motto.
