According to TMZ, Georgina and Harvey Weinstein celebrated their 10 year anniversary last Friday. While the milestone appears like it wouldn’t garner a banner headline, here is why it’s important.

In 2007, the film producer and fashion designer signed a prenup which stated Chapman would receive AUD $390K per year in spousal support should she and her husband split up. After the ten years, that amount automatically changes to AUD $522K for every year of marriage. Since they aren’t divorced yet, Chapman is in line for AUD $5.2 million. But that’s not all.

Documents obtained by TMZ also reportedly spell out Chapman’s cut of their marital assets. For every five years of marriage, she is to receive AUD $326K per year. For year’s six through the ten, this figure jumps to AUD $913K per year. So that’s another instant AUD $6.35 million.

Add in a housing allowance and Chapman is set to receive AUD $15.3 million. This all assumes that the Marchesa designer files for divorce soon. Evidence that this may be a headline in your feed soon includes the knowledge she has hired a high-powered New York divorce attorney.

News broke Chapman was separating from Weinstein on October 10. In her statement to the world, she labelled her husband’s actions as “unforgivable”. “My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions,” she said. “I have chosen to leave my husband. Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time.” One day later, Weinstein responded.

“Over the last week, there has been a lot of pain for my family that I take responsibility for. I sat down with my wife Georgina, who I love more than anything, and we discussed what was best for our family,” he explained in the statement. “We discussed the possibility of a separation and I encouraged her to do what was in her heart. In the end, she made the decision to separate. I understand, I love her and I love our children and hopefully, when I am better, I will be in their lives again,” he concluded. “I support her decision, I am in counseling and perhaps, when I am better, we can rebuild.”

Like her or loathe her, everyone should agree Chapman should just take the money and run as far away from this monster as possible.
