Whether we are escaping the mundanity of our restricted lives or the messiness of our social media feeds, a woman’s nighttime routine has become a much-needed tool to disconnect and relax. In this series “How I Wind Down…”, we speak to a lot of different women about how they prepare for a restful evening.

While Instagram darling Nadia Fairfax admits she is a “socially charged” person, if she finds herself extremely busy, the self-confessed party queen will always schedule in downtime. “Whether this is just a dinner with my husband at one of our favourite local restaurants, a quick facial or a walk around Centennial Park,” Fairfax told GRAZIA. “They are easy things that I love and reset me, so I’m ready to continue the party at the next event.”

Her response is fitting of course given party season is alive and well. Perhaps more apt was the release of her collaborative footwear collection with LMS recently. Named after her favourite cocktails – think, the mint mojito and French martini – the style influencer ushered in seven vibrant and flirty heels to take you from every event (safely and socially distant of course).

“They are all so fun that they add a pop to a more minimal look or are the perfect colour clash when you want to be loud with your outfit (me!),” she discussed of the collection. “They are also super comfortable, so a win-win!”

When she isn’t dancing or hosting some fabulous luncheon, Fairfax is winding down to do it all again. Here the influencer takes GRAZIA through her night time routine.

GRAZIA: Can you describe your night time beauty routine?

“I use a mix of beauty and skincare in getting ready for bed, but as anyone who knows me would probably guess, it’s not a very strict routine! I love Rationale products to take off the day, and will pop on my go-to [Estée Lauder] Advanced Night Repair and Creme De La Mer before tucking in.”

How do you wind down after a busy day?

“I love baths! If I have had a busy day and feel like I need more of a wind down before bed, I will run a bath. I can do a face mask and relax in the tub (sans phone) to really decompress…. Wine optional!”

How do you decorate your space to assist in falling asleep?

“Our home is an extension of our personal style and so we have designed it to be eclectic, bold, and colourful. The bedroom is probably where this is most paired back. It has fun pieces, but the tones are much softer. It is cosy and inviting…a room that fills with natural light during the day, but also has curtains I can pull if I want to sleep in. I always want my bedroom to feel like a hotel.”

What time do you go to sleep?

“Barely before 12 am. I find it terribly hard to drift off – it always takes me some time! On a regular night, I pop into bed around 8:30 pm, but actually sleeping is a different story.”

Do you plan the next day’s look the night before or in the morning? If so, what’s your go-to look for an easy morning the next day?

“Rarely. If I do, I’m impressed with myself! I never find it too hard to pick a look. I’ll usually just throw something together and go with it. Fashion to me is fun – if I overthink it too much then that changes. I do have a lot of great go-to basics, so if I am in a rush, I’ll wear something I know I like, then accessorise so it still feels fun and fresh. Think bold earrings or daring footwear.”
