From Moschino’s louder-is better logos and the lamé love at Saint Laurent, to the modern florals at Michael Kors and crisp minimalism at Ellery and Chloe – Spring/Summer 2017’s celebration of individualism can translate easily to your spritz of choice. “Women have very complex lives today, which are maybe divided between their family, friends, business and they might find this multi-faceted life sees them thinking differently about their fashion and their fragrances,” says founded by Laura Slatkin, founder of Nest, a niche fragrance house that has found success via its offering of unique fragrances. “A woman might ask herself what kind of mood she wants to create; is she going to work or going out that evening, is she entertaining at home or with friends for lunch; and what doe she want her scent to say about her in that moment.”
From the sparkling citruses that tap into the beachwear trend, to the sexy blends made for teaming back with SS17’s sheer movement – each new perfume promises its own personality. “It’s about wearing a fragrance, not the fragrance wearing you,” says Slatkin. “So when someone leans in to say hello they’re impacted and they’re moved to the point where they ask what are you wearing.” And after all, isn’t that perfume’s main purpose?
