“We’ve never texted,” Nicole Kidman told Parade, referring to the key to the success of her 12-year marriage to Keith Urban. “That is so not our relationship, which is interesting, right? We call. We’ve done this since the very beginning.”

The pair met in 2005 at the G’Day USA gala – an event that honours Australians in Los Angeles. Four months later, he called her. By June 2006, they were married. However, the reason the pair still don’t text each other 13 years later is rather amusing; Kidman didn’t know how despite mobiles being around for many years.

“The reason it started at the beginning was because I didn’t know how to text and it just kind of worked for us, so now we don’t,” she said. “We just do voice to voice or skin to skin, as we always say. We talk all the time and we FaceTime but we just don’t text because I feel like texting can be misrepresentative at times and I’ve had the thing where I re-read texts and I’m like, ‘what does that mean?’ and then read it to somebody and go ‘can you interpret that?’. I don’t want that between my lover and I.”

Kidman also told the publication when she and Urban are working apart, one of them will always fly home at night so as not to spend a night less together. “We will do anything to make it work,” she quipped. Cue a collective “Aww”.
