Michael Kors is the master of luxury, sensuality and wearability preferably in utilitarian silhouettes and shades. But that’s not to say the celebrity designer doesn’t like to turn up the star power, which he did in spades at his A-list Spring Studios New York Fashion Week.

His deployment of iconic supermodels Amber Valletta, Carolyn Murphy, Natasha Poly and our very own Julia Nobis down his Autumn/Winter 2017 runway coincided with the new guard, including Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Joan Smalls and Edie Campbell. FROW guest of honour Blake Lively, who was blooming in a flirty pink floral print, brought her actor sister Robyn Lively as a date.

If the fashion pack was feeling jaded on the second last day of NYFW, the orchestra playing the Eurythmics tune Sweet Dreams (are made of this…) certainly woke them up. As did the sexy procession of coloured animal print dresses, trenches and jumpsuits, not to mention the glittery gold and silver lame a go-go. And well, let’s face it, who couldn’t use a bit of bling in their lives right now?

Other standouts included an olive green taffeta trench coat, black slit leather skirt (fabulous fringed), oversized fur cocoon coats and wraps and the tweed suiting.

“It was stunning, it was beautiful and I really loved that he bought back all the old school models,” said David Jones face Jessica Gomes who flew in from her hometown of Los Angeles just to attend the show. “Michael Kors is the epitome of no fuss glamour. I loved the gold dress on Natasha Poly and there was a black dress with tassels.”

Accessories Alert Kors fans go mad for his accessories and they didn’t disappoint with an arsenal of clutches, satchel and bucket bags, plain, perforated, studded and in animal print. The same treatment was given to heels, booties and slouchy knee high boots.

Beauty note Dick Page for MAC created the classic no make up look, while hair guru Orlando Pita showed how chic a simple centre part can be.

Insider Goss “Get these people out of here,” screamed one of the PR reps at security as fashion editors and bloggers scrambled to get a shoot of Lively.  And here we were thinking it was our job to report on the show and the action…
