Society’s obsession with teens and twenty-something stars probably isn’t going away, but 2018 has been a year to somewhat balance the scales, where we’ve celebrated women in their thirties, forties and beyond.

Jennifer Lopez, 49, proved she’s at her peak as she accepted the Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards, and Meghan Markle began a new chapter as a royal and philanthropist at 37. Now Beyonce has proved she only gets better with age.

To celebrate her 37thbirthday, the Run The World singer recapped her last 12 months in achievements in an open letter to fans on Instagram.

There’s no question 36 was her best year yet.

“At 36,
I became a new mother of 3.
I breastfed twins.
I renewed my vows with my husband of ten years.
I came back home to the stage to do Coachella, after pregnancy.
Then my husband and I released our album together, Everything Is Love.
And we’ve been touring with our family around the world, and loving it.
This year has been monumental for me.
I thank God for everyone in my life.
Thank you for all the positivity and for the beautiful birthday wishes.
I’m looking forward to continuing to learn from my past, living in the present, and surrendering to the future.
I love you, Hive.”

The Carters are currently in Sardinia, Italy, taking a break from their On The Run II tour before heading back to the US for a performance in Texas on September 11.

Happy birthday, Bey.
