It’s been five years since Penn Badgley signed off ‘XOXO, Gossip Girl’ for the last time and abruptly departed the small screen, but the actor will soon be back on TV.
Badgley is set to star in Lifetime thriller series You, about a man working in a bookstore who uses social media to make a woman fall in love with him.
Based on the book by Caroline Kepnes of the same name, You is a twisted love story that explores what people will do for love, especially with the technological tools we now have at our disposal to ‘get close’ to, i.e, stalk people in 2017.
A release date for the ten-part series is yet to be announced.
It’s technically not the first time the 30-year-old has been on the small screen since Gossip Girl ended – he was in two episodes of the US remake of Australian TV show The Slap.
It’s a time of especially good news for Penn, who played Dan Humphrey on Gossip Girl – after marrying Domino Kirke at Brooklyn City Hall in February, the actor and his new wife officially celebrated with a ceremony and reception surrounded by family and friends this past weekend. Heidi Klum, Mariska Hargitay, Debra Messing and Zac Posen were among the high-profile guests.
