Mere hours after Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson told his online followers he really didn’t want to be on this earth anymore (and induced a police welfare check and widespread panic), he introduced Miley Cyrus to the SNL stage.

Cyrus, 26, wore an open Gucci jacket with no shirt underneath for the performance with Mark Ronson, and Twitter – for a moment of reprieve from Davidson – lost it. But while a few acknowledged her bare chest, most were in complete awe of the power of her vocal as she sang new track Nothing Breaks Like A Heart. The trust in the Hollywood tape was real as Cyrus commanded the stage – and America. Take a listen:

Davidson sent the internet into meltdown yesterday which his apparent cry for help. While the NYPD did a welfare check and confirmed they had made contact with the young comedian, friends were still very concerned. Ex-fiancé Ariana Grande reached out via Twitter (supposedly because she couldn’t reach him via text) saying even though she wasn’t the person he’d want with him right now, she was still there and waiting “downstairs” at the network’s Rockerfellar headquarters. Nicki Minaj and rapper Machine Gun Kelly reached out but it was Jada Pinkett Smith’s who offered Davidson the most practical and immediate advice. “Pete Davidson … hang in there,” she posted to her Twitter. “There is a lot of help out here. Surrender to some love some where around you … today! Right now! And then … let in the help that will become available. I’m praying for you Pete. I’ve been there. It gets better.”
