Sydney-based Romy Frydman is far more than a fashion industry insider. In fact, if you’re a fan of iconic Australian label Zimmermann and its runway shows, you’ll know her handiwork.
Freelance stylist Frydman, whose broadsheet magazine titled Style Me Romy was a regular fixture in the coolest hair salons, boutiques, and fashion week parties a few years back, styles – amongst other commercial clients – Zimmermann’s New York Fashion Week shows and romantic seasonal campaigns like this.
If Sydney has a Rachel Zoe type persona, then Frydman might just be it. Most recently, the Sydney-based mother-of-one styled chic Byron Bay celebrity haunt The Bower for a VIP pool party to celebrate 10 years of her Style Me Romy brand and blog, hosted in partnership with Mercedes-Benz and Dior Fragrance. (It was also the perfect opportunity for The Bower to show off its new Insta-worthy pool.)
Little surprise, the guests – all long-time supporters of the stylist – were some of the who’s who of Australian fashion influence. And yes, they wore Zimmermann, including swimsuits showcased in a poolside ‘bikini bar’ set-up.
Some folks, like P.E Nation designer Pip Edwards, were long-time friends. Most, like dynamic fashion duo Yan Yan Chan and Nathan Jolliffe, plus Montana Cox, designer Marnie Skillings and DJs: Tom Derickx and Jimmy2Sox from Flight Facilities, had flown up from Sydney specifically for the socials. The catering was more of a local affair courtesy of popular Bronte-turned-Byron brand Three Blue Ducks and Harvest.
“What a weekend – what a crew!” said Pip Edwards after the poolside celebration-come-photo-op.
Other guests included Simone Zimmermann, Tim Holmes a Court, furniture dealer Charlie Hinckfuss, talent manager Jo Grogan, fashion editor Amanda Valmorbida, author Lisa Valmorbida, creative director Emma Gott, model Louise Vandevorst, stylist Renee Nomchong and interiors stylist Kirsten Stanwix-Bookallil.
